The cost for a commissioned 30x40 painted portrait starts at $10,000.
The cost for a commissioned 11x14 pencil study/sketch starts at $1,000.

I cannot create a commission painting or sketch in a smaller size for a lower price.  This price reflects the amount of time and effort involved in each commission.  Simply creating a smaller piece would not reduce the amount of work involved and thus, would not reduce the price.  Prices for larger pieces vary, contact me for more details.  One half of the cost isdue to initiate the project, with the remaining amount due before the finished commission is shipped.  Shipping is additional and includes packing and insurance, we can give you a quote for this based on your zip code. 

Once the deposit and photos are received we can begin discussing the details of your painting.  This is a very important step and will go a long way toward making your idea into the perfect image.  Again, think about types of poses, close-up or full body, colors, and special details like hair, jewelry and clothing that interest you. I have completed several personalized works of art over my career. A commissioned piece incorporates any number of special requests from the collector.  Portraits require very good photographic references to ensure a quality product.  Detailed pictures of the face are most important. Full front and 3/4 face shots are the best.  A good body shot is also required.

If you have commissioned a painting, a sketch will be mailed to you for approval before the painting begins.  A commission will take approximately one month to complete. This time will vary depending upon your specifications and other projects that I have going at the time.
