Q:
Can you paint a picture of my wife/ girlfriend/ mother/ daughter?
A: Yes, I can do portraits from photographs that
are sent to me. I need a couple great photographs of the face and
some fairly good shots of the body. A sketch is then created based
upon your desires and specifications. The sketch is sent for approval
before the painting begins. Prices for custom pieces currently start
at $10,000 for a 30"X40", $12,500 for a 40"X60".
For more complete information, visit the Portrait
page. Read the next FAQ for more information regarding the price.

Q:
Can I get a custom portrait for less than $10,000?
A: Logically, it would seem that a smaller size
portrait painting would be priced lower. However, there are two
reasons that Janesko cannot fulfill this request. First, Jennifer
chooses to work in a large format, which is 30" X 40".
It is rare that an original painting is created smaller than this size.
The second reason is that the $10,000 commission price is based on the
amount of time and concentration that a portrait requires. A smaller
size rarely changes the amount of work involved. In some instances
a smaller piece can actually involve more work. Portraits are an
exceptionally unique and treasured item and Janesko has priced these requests
accordingly.
Jennifer now offers custom sketches as well. Prices for a custom
sketch start at $1,000 for an 11" X 14" piece. If you
are looking for a unique gift at a lower price, Janesko offers all her
merchandise with a personalized
dedication.

Q:
What projects are underway?
A: Janesko appears at a variety of shows throughout
the year. You can view her current schedule on the Appearances
page. When the artist is not traveling, she is busy creating new original
images, promoting her Haut
Art Wine Artist Series, body painting for events and concentrating
on some special projects which have yet to be announced.

Q:
Do you use live models?
A: Until recently, all of my pieces came from my
imagination. I combine elements from everything I see and experience
to come up with a unique piece. As such, few of my pieces actually
represent a real person at all. Currently, I have been inspired
to paint actual models. In part, this has come about because I have
met so many great models during the Glamourcon conventions. Visit
the Models page to see
the women that I have painted.

Q:
Where do you find your inspiration?
A: Like most artists, I drink in everything that
surrounds me. I am still inspired by fashion illustrators such as Antonio
Lopez and Stavrinos. As far as other female-oriented artists, I
usually appreciate different things from each one. I love the beautiful
colors of Luis Royo, the innocent softness of Vargas, the movement and
energy of Manuel Nunez, the mood of Bruvel, the diligent details and technique
of Sorayama. When I first began airbrushing, it was the Japanese
airbrush books that inspired me to continue using an airbrush. I
loved the sleek, realistic feel these artists were able to achieve.
I also love music, and many times the music I am listening to will dictate
where a painting will go. My CD collection is completely eclectic.
I am also very inspired by clothing (fashion), colors, music videos, magazines,
nightclubs and travel.

Q:
Have you painted any pictures of yourself?
A: No, and I don't have any plans to do so.

Q:
Do you paint pictures of men too?
A: I began my career as a commercial fashion illustrator,
and studied menswear design. When I made the move into fine art,
I initially painted a few male images. In the end, I concentrated
on what I really love to paint.....women.

Q:
How do you create an original?
A: I use an airbrush to spray watercolors and inks
on to illustration board, using frisket to mask off certain areas.
I always paint the figure nude first. I then go back and place the
clothes on the body. I add the final detail by hand using a brush
or colored pencils. Backgrounds are usually acrylic paints applied
with various tools.

Q:
Why am I no longer receiving information through the mail regarding Janesko?
A: The Janesko mailing list is growing rapidly. Very
often our mailings are returned because a collector moved or didn't provide
a complete address. These names and addresses are removed from our

mailing list form.
Increasingly, communications are being sent via e-mail. Make sure
that we have your current e-mail address so that you can receive the latest

Q:
I am interested in Janesko originals, what do I do now?
A: Not everyone has a local gallery that carries
original paintings. Many original paintings are sold through the
website and can be viewed on the Originals
page. If you are still uncertain, we may be able to provide
you with a better quality reproduction of the image in question.

Q:
I am an artist and I have a lot of questions.
A: There is no instant road to success in the art
business. It takes talent, dedication and hard work. Several artists
send e-mails asking for help and advice. With the growth of my business,
I simply do not have the time to answer all of these questions.
Everything that I have accomplished has been through my own hard work
and research. Today there is an immeasurable amount of free information
such as the library and the internet. I also encourage you to take
life drawing classes at your local art college. I know many artists
and each has a different story on what lead to success, you have to follow
the path that is right for you.

Q:
Will you be teaching an airbrush class in my hometown?
A: Not unless you live in Raleigh, North Carolina.
All of my classes are taught at the Dru
Blair School of Art in Raleigh. Dru's facilities are set up
exclusively for airbrush classes and include all of the necessary
equipment. It would very difficult to try to duplicate these facilities
in a temporary location. I encourage you to take a class with Dru
even if I am not instructing. He doesn't just provide technical
skills, but also the tools you need to run an "art business."

Q:
Can I commission Janesko to paint on my car, motorcycle, boat or helmet?
A: I am not experienced in working on these types
of surfaces. Until I gain some background in this area I would not
feel comfortable working on this type of project for a collector.
There are many talented individuals who specialize in this type of work.
